Our Executive Director spent last week advocating for clean water and the National Estuary Program to our representatives in Washington D.C. Like many groups, the Tillamook Estuary Partnership is facing extreme risk from federal funding cuts and changing priorities. Unlike most other groups, we are one of 28 National Estuary Programs, which were authorized by 1987 amendments to the Clean Water Act and established by Congress.
Check out Kristi with other directors from a handful of the 28 National Estuary Programs working to protect these vital ecosystems across the country. From left: Jennifer Hecker, Kristi Foster, Ed Sherwood, Joyce Novak, Elaine Placido, and Duane De Freese.
We’re so thankful to the bipartisan members of the Congressional Estuaries Caucus for hosting them and last weeks “Protecting Economies, Clean Water, and Communities” briefing, and for keeping a light shining on the importance of healthy estuaries to our environment and our economy.
